The Feeling of accomplishment

Image
Being an adult and returning to school is a challenge. Now being a Mother and Wife while returning to school is a even bigger challenge. At the age of 32 I finally finished something I should have accomplished about 8 years ago. While most of my high school friends started college right after high school graduation I did with many failed attempts. I attended class everyday, but I would sit mid class against the wall to prop me up while I slept. With my new found freedom of adulthood I did whatever I wanted to. Even though I wanted to succeed I just didn't have the actual gumption to finish anything.  Now I am 32 years old graduating with 3 degrees and transferring to a university in the fall. There is no longer time to procrastinate nor give up.  I want everyone to know that this feeling of accomplishment is worth all the sweat, tears and glory. Especially,  if you have children. My friend who is a few years older than me graduated along side me last week. She has ...

Fathers Day 2022

With Father's Day upon us I have been reflecting on the men in my life that have inspired me, helped me grow through my life up to where I am today. I have been blessed with not only an amazing father who supports me, and who has given me the world, but I have also been blessed with grandfathers and uncles who have shown me the same love as my father has while growing up. Neither of my grandfather's are alive today but both have had something to do with who I am as an adult. Same applies to my uncles, especially my uncles on my mother's side.  So, last week you read about my educational PRIDE moments between my son and I, now you will learn just who I learned them from.. Well growing up I spent many summer breaks taking day trips to San Francisco with my Uncle Rudy. We would drive up and down mission district, and visit Golden Gate Park and the museum. Attend our annual Giants game of course. Like how could we not stop to see the unstoppable Barry Bonds. He would teach me ...

Summer Vacation on a Budget

Julia the Crazy Mom is here! While schools are winding down and the kiddos are being let out for summer, I would like to reflect on the past 2 years! Most kids and parents have been stuck together indoors. Without a true summer vacation and stuck with the limitations of a COVID world, what can we do as parents to make this one of the best summer vacations for our kiddos? While food and gas prices are at their all-time high, there are a lot of different resources out there that can be utilized to help ease the burden. If your children are anything like mine, they live in the pool all summer long. It can literally be 60 degrees and windy outside and they are still ready to jump in the pool. Go check out your local parks and recreation websites to see if they offer free or reduced pool passes and swim lessons. I wait every year for my local parks and rec to offer theirs, it saves me about $500 a summer, which is an amazing saving.         ...

Gun Violence and Schools

Xxtra Xtra read all about it! This saying could once be heard on busy street corners, being yelled out by a young paper boy. The newspapers during these times were filled with politics, economics, and war. In today's age, we have headlines on TV, Social media, and the internet. And while there is a war going on in Ukraine, we also fight a war here on American soil. School violence and gun violence are not 2 phrases that should be mentioned in 1 single sentence. Unfortunately, this is what we hear in our news outlets more often than we should. Tuesday, May 24th another tragedy took the lives of young children who had not enough time in this world to say they had lived a life at all. Along with 2 teachers, these young students crossed over to heaven. While we send our children to school to receive a proper education, as parents we can't help but feel nervous and scared as they step out of our protection and onto school property. As a future educator, it also makes me ...
